Substitute across MaST Community Charter Schools — a K-12 "family of schools" in Northeast Philadelphia built around math, science, and technology. Through HelloSubs you can cover classrooms across MaST's campuses, from its original Byberry campus to its newer locations in Lawncrest, Tacony (on the Delaware waterfront), and the Roosevelt Boulevard (Crown) campus. MaST has grown into one of the city's most established charter networks — home to a National Blue Ribbon School and a hands-on STEM approach of robotics, makerspaces, and project-based learning across the grades. Substitutes keep those classrooms running when a teacher is out. Pay is $150–$170/day with weekly direct deposit, and one application covers every MaST campus.
Requirements
Must be eligible to work in the U.S.; bachelor's degree preferred (or 1+ year of relevant classroom/childcare experience without a degree); a Pennsylvania substitute/teaching permit helps but isn't required to start; must complete Pennsylvania background clearances (PA State Police Act 34, Child Abuse Act 151, and FBI Act 114).
Why MaST Community Charter Schools?
MaST is one of Philadelphia's largest and most established charter networks — a family of K-12 campuses across Northeast Philadelphia, including a National Blue Ribbon School. Its STEM identity makes it one of the more distinctive places to substitute in the city: robotics labs, makerspaces, and technology woven through the day rather than a standard classroom. The campuses are modern and well-resourced, the schedule is flexible, and because HelloSubs staffs all of them, you can move between grade levels and Northeast Philadelphia campuses depending on where you want to work.
